FAQ
It’s not allowed to own, use, or live in a building that hasn’t been properly permitted. An “unpermitted structure” is any building — or part of one — that was built, remodeled, expanded, moved, connected to utilities, or otherwise altered without first getting the required permits from the Building Official, as outlined in Section 106.1. This also applies to projects where a permit was issued but has since expired before the work was completed.
It depends on several factors, but as a general rule of thumb, most drafting projects cost between 3–4 percent of the total construction budget, depending on complexity. Rest assured that we offer clear cost estimates upfront, so you know exactly what to expect before we begin your plans.
In most cases, you can build a detached structure under 10 square meters (108 square feet) without a permit, as long as it isn’t attached to another building, isn’t connected to utilities, and doesn’t exceed 4.3 meters (14.1 feet) in height.
